Gretta Seabird is a Portland, Oregon folk pop 4-piece act with big harmonies, playful songwriting, guitars & beats, and a live show where anything can happen. Led by songwriter Lee McDonnell and Brooklyn guitarist Jeremiah Brunnhoelzl, the music blends lush vocal harmonies reminiscent of Lucius with the adventurous folk pop spirit of Maggie Rogers.
Come for the songs, stay for whatever happens next. Every Gretta Seabird show is unique. McDonnell treats every performance like it could be her last, bringing an all in energy and inviting the audience into the action. Past shows have included heart-shaped-cake, glam booths, hot dogs, halos, dodgeball, spontaneous line dancing, and the occasional audience member onstage. It is fun, unpredictable, and intentionally participatory. You do not just watch a Gretta Seabird show, you become part of it.
Behind the scenes, McDonnell is deeply invested in Portland's independent music community. She hosts a weekly show as DJ Gretta Seabird on Shady Pines Radio, runs a monthly open mic at Kelly's Olympian, and
founded VLVT HEART RECORDS. Recent releases include “Fight the Good Fight,” a song about power and protest, and “Mentally Half Dressed,” a quirky response to the dizzying political climate where facts become fiction. A new Gretta Seabird record arrives in March 2027.
